I've Purchased VPS From Knownhost - Now What

    Hi,

I've purchased a VPS package from Knownhost, and i added the CPanel WHM & The plesk power panl.

I've received the login details, but i have no idea what to do now.

I've already changed my name servers to point to my "Primary" name server, but the subdomains & domains are still pointing to my old server.

*note* when i do http://www.domain.com - get to a cpanel blank page
If i go to http://domain.com - i get directed to my old server.

I've already added to A Names inside my domain control panel with both a blank record & a www. record.

What do i do my WHM & Plesk?

I'm brand new to VPS so go easy

hi...go get to your cpanel you need to
    do this
    http://www.domain.com/cpanel
    or http://www.domain.com:2082
but before that you need to create a cpanl account from your
    whm which is at http://www.domain.com:2086
    or http://www.domain.com/whm

Just so you don't confuse anyone as you did to me at first, your likely talking about the Virtuozzo Power Panel, and not so much Plesk. At first I saw that you were saying you had CPanel / WHM installed with Plesk, and I was thinking how illogical that was.

Anyhow, you should run the Initial Server Setup under WHM, and that should allow for you to setup everything to begin with. If for some reason you still can't figure it out, you might be able to search the CPanel forums, as someone else suggested. I've looked at KnownHost's page, and unfortunately, it doesn't seem they provide management so its unclear how much support they'll provide you with in the end.

I think personally, that for the money your paying over at KnownHost, you can likely get a similar service, with management included, perhaps for even cheaper. For example, over at SLHost right now, you can get a VPS plan with CPanel / WHM, and Virtuozzo included for roughly 30.xx a month, or 50% off the 6 month plan. They include management as well, and if you run into any other issues, it seems they'd help you out.

    Hopefully this helps you out.

    Pigfat,

We cover just about anything you would get with a Management service at Slhost as the only real difference is proactive updates for the OS and Applications which if you request from us we will do. So the example by Bahawolf is not true. Also, your asking initial setup questions which we help you with the same just like Slhost. I want to make sure you get facts not jibberish.

Bahawolf - there are more things to consider other then just the price. KnownHost is much different then Slhost so your not comparing apples to apples.

I apologize for the wrong example that I set in my reply.

I hope that you realize my intent of the post was not to harm the name of KnownHost, or defer the user from your hosting, but rather assist the member with a solution and possible alternative that I saw might be fit for them.

In the case that Jay from KnownHost has set now, it is apparent that they will assist you in setting up your VPS. I would contact their support team if the issue persists, and they should be happy to help you out. -- Some hosts take non-managed to a very serious level, and they'll often not assist you in the configuration of your VPS, without a fee. Fortunately for you, as well as the other clients of KnownHost, they seem very willing to help out.

On a side note, I have noticed now that KnownHost does include a 'semi-managed' solution with their VPS hosting plans, for free. Once again, I apologize for not getting the correct information, but hope that you realize that my intent was good.

All the same, good luck to you and if you need any more help, feel free to ask. It'd also be nice to see a review of KnownHost in some due time, perhaps a monthly review. Thank you.

They won't just go thru the initial WHM setup as that requires you as the VPS owner to be involved but if your having specific problems let them know. They can definitely assist you.

BTW, I see your talking to Support now.
