do you guys offer an anti-spam verification application to your clients? i want to research offering a cheap "verify this sender" type of option as part of an anti-spam service to hosting customers. where should i look?
what do you want to verify ? the customer ? the order ?
sorry - i think i was not clear. i want to offer my clients the service that they get to verify their email senders. some kind of message verification, either they choose to pre-verify the senders or the sender gets a return msg for the first msg that they send that they must respond to to verify themselves. you know the drill, something like that..
i knwo there are hosted services that offer this, but is there such a thing as licensed software, so i can offer it myself to my clients. like a cheap value-add service
I've seen other articles, like the one referred to by blacknight, and that is why I have decided against this type of solution. It creates more problems than it solves. However, I was still curious about any solutions someone might have tried. But for myself, I've reinforced my decision not to use them.
Why on earth would you want to compound the spam problem by using any sort of challenge-response system or offer that to clients? That's hideous.
I have read about the cons of this system; however it seems to be something more and more people want. I have some switching their mail to messagelabs and so on. What do you say if customers ask for it?
Does MessageLabs send out challenge emails? I don't think so. I think they just offer a filtering solution that puts suspect emails into a quarantine. The email recipient can then review the quarantine and release/whitelist any emails that are legit but got wrongly flagged. So it would be quite different than the situation originally asked about here in this thread. A MessageLabs solution would not add to the spam problem, as I understand it.
