    What is your experience with Servage Traffic ?

    I host some sites on two accounts by Servage.On one account I have a board with
    roundabout 3000 Vistors and 18 GB Traffic per day. Allowed from Servage are 70 GB
    per day but only 400.000 Hits.I arrive this near every day and so I get allways a
    High load Warning. I read them Website and find out that they wrote there to
    contact them if you need more traffic. See here http://www.imagefap.com/image.php?id=1755619634
    a Screenshoot about this. Now I contact them via Support ticket
    that I need more hits per day but the only real answer what I get
    is that I can open one more account to get more traffic. But this do
    not help me if I have the traffic on a single domain.
    Have anybody here make some experience with Servage about the
    same Problem ?

    Thanks for your answers.

    That 'high traffic' page is for large scale websites only (over a $1000 per month usually). I moved from servage becuase of that same hits limit. I moved to mediatemple but mediatemple offers about the same except instead of suspending your account, they charge you for extra 'GPU' usage. Mediatemple use GPU's too measure usage.

    The worst part is that Mediatemple is $20 per month where servage is only $7.50. The services and things at mediatemple are a lot worse as well.

    The GREAT thing about servage is they actually do offer all that bandwidth. I have 3 accounts which servage which all act as file servers. One account hits the daily bandwidth limit everyday and I haven't got one complaint from servage. They even linked my other two accounts to the same storage as my primary account so as soon as one account reaches it's bandwidth limit, my download php script checks to see if the bandwidth limit on server1 has been reached, and then goes and downloads the file from server2 and so on. I use about 7TB a month for only $22.50 - best deal ever. I repay them by advertising their services at sitepoint.

    I suggest you checkout hostgator Boot321, they seem to allow a lot more traffic than servage/mediatemple.

    If you have more than one account with servage, then just ask them to link the storage of your second account to your first account. It might also be worth saying that it will use less of their diskspace

    I'd check with them first though before signing up to a second account. Ask for the support person named 'Allan' - he's the bloke that helped me. This doesn't merge the account though, only the storage. So I don't think it would work too well for anything other than a file server.

    As for the script. I just wrote a simple php script that looks like this...

    PHP Code:
    <?php
    $file_name
    "http://www.crysis-online-files.com";
    $file_read file_get_contents($file_name);
    if (
    strpos($file_read"crysis-online.com") == false){

    $file_name2 "http://www.crysis-online-files-2.com";

    $file_read2 file_get_contents($file_name2);
        if (
    strpos($file_read2"crysis-online.com") == false){

    $file_name3 "http://www.crysis-online-files-3.com";

    $file_read3 file_get_contents($file_name3);
            if (
    strpos($file_read3"crysis-online.com") == false){

    $server "http://public.www.planetmirror.com/pub/crysisonline";

    $last 1;

            } else {
    $server "http://www.crysis-online-files-3.com"; }

        } else {
    $server "http://www.crysis-online-files-2.com"; }

    } else {
    $server "http://www.crysis-online-files.com"; }
    ?>
    Basically, if someone accesses any of those sites above directly at the home url, they'll get redirected to the crysis-online.com homepage. There's always the text "crysis-online.com" on the homepage (in links and thing). If one of those sites reaches the bandwidth limit, then the account is suspended until the next day and the user/script doesn't get redirected to the crysis-online homepage. Therefore, the text "crysis-online.com" will not be found so it will then check the site next in the list

    A very simple yet super-effective script. Before servage merged my accounts storages, everytime I uploaded a new video to one account, I had to run another script I wrote which downloads the file from one account, and writes it to another . That script isn't so simple though. Although a simple version of it could be made. All you need to do is use the copy() function of php.

    As part of a support ticket to copy all the files from one account to the other, I included this in one of my replies...

    "I was wondering, would it be possible to have all my accounts share the same storage? (Sloth_Boy, Sloth_Boy2, Sloth_Boy3) This would make my life a lot easier and would also reduce the disk usage on your servers. Can that be done?"

    He replied by saying...

    "
    That would be possible. I will then move the "Sloth_Boy3" account to the same cluster as the others. Please confirm the move because your websites could be inaccessible up to 24 hours due to DNS changes for that account.

    Please tell me which account you want as primary storage server. And i will create a link to that folder.

    Kind regards,
    Allan, Servage Hosting"

    So that's how it happened for me

    I read that they do allow customers to use a few percents over the stated limit. Like most hosts, they skimp on server resources, not data transfer.

    Why dont you go with VPS or Dedicated? thats should solve this problem

  9. #9
    I suggest you to go for a VPS . You will progress with your site without any problem . and have the benefits of a dedicated server .

    With that traffic,I would suggest you go with dedicated server,don't skimp the money,you can earn more with a good server.

    erm...if you dont mind, what's type of site you're running? that's huge in mean of traffic

  13. #13
    I had to move one of my sites off servage for going over the 400,000 hits a day as well they kept suspended my account guess after a year with my other sites and all the free publicity that they got on my sites was not enough to up my hits allowed per day quota. I had to move to a dedicated server as well, I run a myspace type of website with only 800 members 20-40 people members on the site at all times. but 400 guests clicking on everything too. I need to find one of them impression companies lol.
