Vbulletin as a front page for my biz website

I am thinking about using vbulletin as the front page for my webhosting biz just like httpme.

Q is do i need a webpage already setup to install vbulletin ?

I dont have a webpage, dont know html coding fully to make one and dont want to spend $$ at this stage and so was hoping just to install vbulletin just like httpme for now.

    Thanks

No, you don't need any web page setup before you install VB. You should be able to just install VB into the public directory and it will be setup automatically. If this is on a cpanel server, install to the public_html folder and you are set.

Yes.Its on cPanel server. Also can i install it oneself or need professional installation.

One other thing , httpme.com u see where they advertise the plans. How is that done? Can it be done in vbulletin itself or ---??

    Your input is much appreciated

    Thanks

You should be able to install VB yourself. Just follow their installation instructions.

I haven't really looked at the VB code, but I believe adding the plans like httpme does should be pretty easy. But if you don't know html or php, you might need to get some help. I sure you can find somebody here that can do it for a reasonable fee.

I think unless you already have a steady customer base and you are going to use this for support such as httpme where the boards will start to look active after a short amount of time it might be a good idea. If you have a small base (or none) I think it can be very bad for your business as it may make it look like you are new (which you may indeed be) or that there is no one really working at the company.

The fact that you are asking how to customize vbulletin seems to indicate that you are very new in this industry.

If this is the case, then having a forum-based website for your sales website will probably not be a good idea.

There is nothing worse to turn away potential customers then seeing a dead forum. Why would anyone host with you if the last past was 5 months ago? Or if you have only 10 registered members? Or only 15 posts on the whole site?
