So I bought this little flash drive to play with and hopefully make it easier than these damn floppy disks and CD-Rs! It did, and I found some cool mobile programs. I can't seem to get my mobile Gaim, Firefox, and xChat to even connect to the network at all! The loaded internet explorer works fine that was on the computer to begin with... None of my other programs work like putty etc... When the computer starts it shows something about getting an IP from the DHCPd so I'm going to assume it would all be set up and ready to go... Any ideas? I'd love to be able to use my Firefox that is synced with my home browser at the other building!
Just to add to this post, I am not even able to use that safely remove hardware thing in the task bar! I wait a good 2 minutes after I close everything and unplug the drive to make sure I don't mess up the drive. Is that safe to pull it even if I don't use that prompt?
Sounds for me like your old drive died because you didnt bother to remove it from the hardware profile before removing it ;-)
That might just happen with the new drive aswell if you dont take care.
Anyway good luck !!
Actually, I did. It was on my home station and I did the whole remove hardware safely thing, waited a good 2 minutes and unplugged it... Never worked after that. Seems the company is no longer in business or something, so I'll try Kingston.
