    opening ports for customers

    Hi,

    What are the stepts need to do to open ports on centos sytem. Do I just need to add the line in /etc/services file? Please help.

    Nope.

    Which service are you running? Do you have a firewall? If so, which one is it?
    The way to do it depends on which firewall you use.

    If you don't have a firewall, you won't need to open the port at all, it would just be open.

    Can you reply with more details?

    we are running APF at the moment. Do I need to edit inbound and outbout port?

    Look for the following lines in /etc/apf/conf.apf:

    # Common ingress (inbound) TCP ports
    IG_TCP_CPORTS=

    # Common ingress (inbound) UDP ports
    IG_UDP_CPORTS=

    and if Egress Filtering is enabled:

    # Common egress (outbound) TCP ports
    EG_TCP_CPORTS=

    # Common egress (outbound) UDP ports
    EG_UDP_CPORTS=

    add the ports you need opened into those. Then restart APF.
