I update the MySql to 5 and I want back to 4 … please help
I update the MySql in my server to v.5 and its make so many problems I want to make it back to v.4 how ?
Can any one guide me how to make it please ?
did you backup the data from when you running 4?
was it an rpm upgrade ? ..in that case, just backup your current data remove the mysql5 rpms installed and reinstall using the mysql4 rpms.
i do not backup any things
its is a new server
can you tell me how can make it back to v.4
if its a new server , remove all your currently installed mysql rpms , download rpms for 4.* version from mysql.org and install the same ...since you have no fear about lost data , its simple
do a full backup, with the mysql4 compat flag set:

mv /var/lib/mysql /var/lib/mysqlbak (in case something goes horribly wrong, in which case you can just reinstall mysql 5, move this back to /var/lib/mysql, and be back to where you started from)
remove all mysql5 rpms
install mysql 4 rpms (I'd recommend the most current 4.1 version of mysql.com)
reimport all your databases with:
mysql < mysqlbak.sql
And you should be good to go.
One last note: You'll probably need to either restart mysql, or run:
following the upgrade in order for it to pick up and user changes following the import of the dbs. Restart is the best option.
