    Database connection problems on VPS

Hello everyone - My current VPS has 384 megs of memory, 10 gigs of disk space, and a terrabyte of transfer a month. The operating system is CentOS, the database is mysql. The site is running Joomla, with simple machines forum, Mosets tree, RSgallery2, recent forum post visible in most pages as a side bar.

Every time around 20 users get on the site, I start getting database connection errors. This is really starting to tick me off. I went from a shared server to a VPS last month. With this upgrade I went from 10 people at a time being able to connect to 20 people, at more then twice the price.

So far I have went through the Joomla support forums, where I got some help on making the site faster. Those suggestions helped on the loading speed, but not the database connections.

At one time, just to see how many queries there were to the database, I turned on the "show querie time" in the simple machines forum. Each page takes on average 12 -14 queries. Some pages as low as 8 queries, some as many as 18.

So what is the freaking problem?

numiptent and kmemsize have a pretty large failcnt, I would ask your provider to see if they can raise these a little bit for you to allow for some more overhead.
