So I herd lighttpd can be behind apache to handle images and other static content. Is this recomended? I use cpanel and I guess I could do this for each of my sites.
Also is there a way to run some of my sites on lighttpd & the rest of the sites that i host on apache, but still keep the cpanel accounts I have some sites that are huge forums of mine & I have hosting accounts for extra $$ that I dont manage & are limited in speed, etc. They dont need to be on lighttpd but would help if my huge forums we're or they had it on mod_proxy
its fast very fast, and doesnt chug memory like apache
i believe you need to proxy the requests thru apache (apaches mod_proxy i think) to lighttpd, now i never did this so dont know, but droping apache was the best thing i did in long time with quite a noticeble performance improovement
i dont use cpanel or plesk as i find they limit you to using outdated php and mysql..
