Windows 2003 server question - help, anyone? anyone?!
I've been baffled for a month or so now as to why, after I moved my (SMF) forum onto a Windows server, the forum would no longer successfully process http protocol requests (to, say, call up an externally hosted image) unless part or all of 'http' was capitalized. (On the other hand, secure protocols posed no problem.)
Finally I figured out how to look at the server error logs (yes, she admits sheepishly, Vesuvia is a total newbie!). And I see that whenever I try to submit an image request (without capitalizing all or part of http), this error comes up in the server error log:
Anyone know how to fix this? I'd be ever so incredibly hand-wringingly grateful! Lovely early Christmas present to get this problem fixed and the grumbling forum's masses off my back.
That does not make sense, considering what you type as the protocol in your browser (http://) in this case, is not actually sent to the server. It is only used to decide what port and how to connect to the service.
If you have to capitalize part of it, i would try an alternate computer and/or browser before concluding it is a server issue.
Localhost127, I guess I wasn't clear -- the posts do go through without an error when I'm simply typing in a url. It's when I'm trying to call an image via http (and the image tag, of course) that the post doesn't go through! Then I have to capitalize part or all of http in order for the image to show up. (Strangely, all the images that had been posted BEFORE I moved the forum to a new server show up fine still, despite the fact that they are being called with lowercase http!)
Tanfwc -- tell me about it! I'm afraid that the only person I know who has some knowledge about servers unfortunately doesn't know Plesk, so is very confused about the issue too.
vesuvia, i don't know how far asking here is going to help you. You might want to consider private messaging one of us the URL that you are trying to access that does not work so we can take a look at it.
