Our new site dtwebworks.com has been up and running for about a month, ive tested it on differrent sized montitors and about 20 computers and different versions of browsers, and everything looks great but every so often I get a customer who cant see some text because its hidden under a layer or the text is way out of porportion, or some of the layers or tables are out of alignment, but I dont see them.

Can all of you take a look around the site and see if you see anything oddball.

Also asides from any viewing problems you may have, do you like sites that use a more ergonomic style like ours does, or do you prefer purchasing from somewhere with a more corp. type style.

Thank You

that's true

Charles,
It's true that sometimes I can't see the text because it's hidden under the bottom layer (curve line). Try to change your browser text size (IE: View->Text Size) and you will see the problem. I usually run my browser at 1600x1200 with largest text size (otherwise, my eye will go blind in no time ) and there I have problem with how your site is displayed.

Another thing, on the front page, the link to the dedicated hosting (not the one on the top, but the one with white background) does not seem to work... It never brings me to the dedicated server page, I have to use the link on the top to get there...

Overall, I like the design very much.... clean and simple.

cheers,

Actually both image links (website hosting and dedicated hosting) does not bring you anywhere. It points to http://www.dtwebworks.com/#

Going for that burlee.com look, eh? As far as your concern, yes, the sign-up and order links are half cut-off on your website hosting page (hosting.html). I'm using IE 5.5 with 1152x864 res. You might want to check up on that.

Here is the offending piece of code:

<a href="#" onMouseOut="MM_swapImgRestore();" ...

You have <a href="#">. That should be <a href="hosting.html">.

If you are really concerned about compatibility (and I think it's a good idea---do you want to say to 5% of people who view your site "we don't want to do business with you because your browser is non-standard"?), consider using tables instead of absolute positioning (<div style="position: ..."> tags). Nothing on your homepage (http://www.dtwebworks.com/) requires absolute positioning; you could change it to table tags and it'll still look the same.

Also, I would be wary of putting too much text that is only visible on mouseover like you have right now. It slows down the visitor because he has to move the mouse over different buttons in order to read all the text, instead of being able to just look at the screen. You DO have enough room on the screen to display everything.

I'm glad that your visited and unvisited link colors are different and easy to distinguish.

The font size between http://www.dtwebworks.com/dedicated.html and http://www.dtwebworks.com/colo.html is inconsistent. In the former, you're using Times New Roman 12pt for the main text, but the latter has 10pt. I think the latter should be changed to 12pt (10pt is rather small to be using for a lot of text).

Why not use black text on white background? Right now, your contrast isn't so good with black text on blue background, so it's harder to read the text. The most professional web hosting companies all use white background (www.dn.net, www.rackspace.com, www.dialtoneinternet.com), and it's probably because it gives the best contrast.

For the record, I am on Windows 98 using Opera 5.02 web browser.

It does look rather Burlee-esque (not to be confused with burlesque).

Cannot connect to dtwebworks.com. It's Wednesday Feb 14th 3:14AM. I've been considering colocating a server with you and have been checking your site day to day for uptime and speed. Dissappointed to see you down.

I am also thinking about colocating my server(s) with them, so I guess I am dissappointed too... Now let's see how long it would take them to fix the problem, that's more important....

cheers,

yup...if they're back up and running within a few hours, no big deal. Hopefully they have staff on call for problems 24/7. Well, we will see. I should say that this is the first time in the last few weeks that I have caught them down.

Another 3 hours and still down. There prices for Co-lo are great, but I may have to pay more and go with a big datacenter like VDI.net. I guess that extra $120 per month buys you reliability and alot more burstable bandwidth.

Yes, they do have staff on call for problems 24/7 and the problem is always rectified on the spot.

Downtime? Never heard of!

Charles,

I was just looking at your site again trying to figure out what was bugging me with it. I just noticed. You might try changing the text areas in the lower purple area to something sans-serif like Arial, or Helvetica. Times is a nasty choice for small text. It's hard to read and looks 'messy'. I think you'll notice a huge difference.

.. go on try it.... you know you want to. *lol*
