So I tried running my server with Windows 2003 Server (Web), it wasn't cheap either. There were many issues that I would be expected to deal with, reliability sent me to Fedora Core 4. I'm not a cash cow as of yet, but I am well funded. I plan to start the business out with VPS, but I'm just the owner. I am good with networks, computers, and systems, but I hope for some suggestions..
It would be foolish for me to purchase a Linux VPS with all the bells and whisles if it took me a month to understand the system. That's just a waist of money. So I recently installed Fedora Core 4 on my Dell Inspiron E1505, giving me the ability to get some real experience using the system.
I need the abilty to host web, mail, FTP, and anything else a professional host would do. I purchased Plesk this week, but I'm still researching billing software. Anything that is of importance for a hosting company to run on there servers I need to know. I continue to find my own answers, but experience is untimately what will sway to my favorites.
Thanks in advance for your comments.
