I'm trying to figure out how I can go about installing Squirrelmail on my VPS.
The OS is Fedora Core running Plesk 8. Plesk came with Horde webmail but I really don't like that one all that much and would prefer Squirrelmail.
How do I go about installing the webmail so that...
a) Horde still works.
b) Web users created in Plesk will automatically get Squirrelmail access.
c) All domains on the VPS can use the Squirrelmail, not just one domain.
I know this can be done, since I have a dedicated server with Rackspace and I do have both webmail systems running there... however Squirrelmail came with that server and then later I installed Plesk and everything just seemed to work on its own...
Please advise. Much appreciated!
http://3es.atomicrocketturtle.com has a Plesk-Friendly squirrelmail rpm in his repo. It won't mess with Horde, however it won't build in a 'button' or anything for accessing squirrelmail. Just access it using http://webmail.domain.com/webmail if I remember correctly.
However, I'm having a horrible time navigating his website and have no idea where to find RPM....
Could you help me out plz? Thanks.
First off do you have YUM installed?
if so, here is an example yum.conf file to use for a Plesk 8.0.1 server running RHEL4. Depending what Fedora release you are using, you will need to change the "4ES" to "2", for FC2.
name=Atomic Rocket Turtle - RHEL4 - Atomic PSA-Compatible RPMS
name=Atomic Rocket Turtle - RHEL4 - SW-Soft PSA 8.0 RPMS
name=Atomic Rocket Turtle - base - Atomic PSA-Compatible RPMS
name=Atomic Rocket Turtle - updates - Atomic PSA-Compatible RPMS
now install the GPG key:
#rpm --import RPM-GPG-KEY.art.txt
#yum install squirrelmail
Hope this helps
Also, here is a link for assuming you are using FC2 for Plesk Friendly squirrelmail:
Thanks for your help! I'll try and figure out how to get all this going and it sounds like it should go well!
I just wanted to thank you again for your help.
Incase anyone else ever wants to do this and decides to search these forums for it, here is exactly how I installed it:
> Downloaded http://3es.atomicrocketturtle.com/at...art.noarch.rpm and put it on my desktop
> Upload using fav FTP prog into any directory on web server. I put it into /home/user/
> Log into SSH and run:
rpm -i /home/user/squirrelmail-1.4.4-4.rhfc2.art.noarch.rpm
> Open up configuration file:
> My server is running Courier IMAP, so in that config menu I hit "D" and then chose "courier". Then saved the configuration.
> And finally, for all this to take effect I restarted httpd as follows:
And now, my Squirrelmail is happily found at www.domain.com/webmail/
This was a total breeze overall, didn't expect the installation to run so smoothly. Thanks again!
