    A Record

    Hello all,

Seen as I have to use WHM to do this I thought this was a better forum.

domain.com is hosted on Server 1.

I want to setup a subdomain on Server 2 (sub.domain.com) so that if I go to sub.domain.com it will show the files on the Server 2 account.

Now I understand I need to setup an A record using the Edit DNS Zone function in WHM on Server 2, but which IP do I need to put in there? Do I need to edit anything in Server 1?

    Thanks.
    Sean

    Hi

if domain 1 is hosted on server 1
and subdomain is on server 2

on server 1 in WHM edit the DNS for the domain

Create A record subdomain_name to point to the IP of the sub domain.

Is there anyway of doing it so that:

Server 2 is owned by me and has WHM & cPanel
Server 1 is a friend who only has cPanel access

If these are shared IPs then you have to make sure the sub-domain is setup and added as account or Apache will not resolved the host header to the correct web account

On server 2 create the subdomain as a normal account through WHM and on server 1 add an A record in DNS zone for the domain pointing to the server 2 IP.
