A P4 2.8 GHz with a 1GB RAM should be more than sufficient for your needs. Do you know how much bandwidth you're consuming?
I agree. Dan listed the requirements which I'd believe would be more than good for you. Take a look at www.nkommunikation.com - they have some very resonable deals on dedicated servers. If your looking for something a bit more robust, take a look at www.fastservers.net (FastServers.net is rather pricy).
I need all of you experienced guys to make a suggested server specs for this forum:
- IPB LATEST
- 500 MBS GZIPPED SQL DATABASE
- 200 MB FILES
- 15-35 USERS ONLINE ANYTIME
- OVER 1K THREADS
- OVER 14K POSTS
- OVER 23,000 USERS
I certainly don't want to step on your toes, but why in gods name do you need a dedicated server for such a small forum?
On our serverfarm I am running 3 forums with a total of about 1000 users online in high load, 100-150GB SQL database and supporting services like email and stuff and never have above 5% CPU load. (on an 8proc/8gig front end server).
