I bet you'd had a lot of these threads over the years..
Anyway we are developing a new website which we expect to have under high load due to the number of visitors and the use of multimedia such as video and audio on the website.
Now I've automatically been looking into UK webhosts since it's UK based and I want faster access over here. However I've been told by some that it doesn't matter and it doesn't effect speed much. Is this true and does anyone have any examples of webhosts in the US which can offer this?
This isn't really a request, it's more to find out about speed differences between the UK and the US.
if more visitors are in the UK then a UK based server will be best for you.
If you will have high load then maybe look at a VPS.

Agree, do go for a uk host. Do note that if you expecting a high load, its better to go with vps or dedicated since on most shared environment, you may get suspended since it will use too much resource.
