    bestofdata.com packet loss

since yesterday i'm having problems with timeouts to the bestofdata website and servers located there.

Looks like a packet loss problem:

Yeap, all of my servers had a max outbound bandwidth of about 7Kb/s.

Went into the live chat, someone else was having the same issue.

If it stays like this next to no one would stay with them. 7kb/s max? Come on.

[19:02(gmt+1)] <Vincent(bestofdata staff)> apparently a link with one of their provider (teleglobe) is overloaded

Yes, it's been the same for me since yesterday afternoon. They said that Teleglobe are having some problems.

It does seem to have improved since yesterday.

I use them for streaming so it is a big problem for me, hopefully it will be sorted tonight.

proxad has had packet loss for months now.
im really starting to wonder wtf is up...
seems that international bw has been cut to about 3-5% of before... before this i got streams of about 300-380KB/s per stream x2 or x3 but now its down to 10-15KB/s per stream. they just get their boxes from dedibox.fr which is at the paris france french telecom bgld and everyone is in a world shyte that is using this co.

I dont know if this is going to be perm?

Cause i'm going to just terminate my servers then.

I opened a support ticket and they told me that the Dedibox team are working on this.

Hopefully it's not another bandwidth saving scheme from Dedibox like when they banned all Shoutcast streams from listing on the Shoutcast directory.

Uh well...I just provide downloads for my file hosting site.

But it seems my site will die because of this. Everyone is sending me emails over and over, why are all my downloads 2kb/s - why is the download going to take 9 hours, etc. It's pathetic.

Also uploads don't work anymore either - it just times out.

Yeah it seemed to have improved a little bit earlier but its getting beyond a joke now. I imagine dedibox are going to lose some customers because of this.

Think I'll stick with it for now to see if it improves - you never know, they might be even quicker when everyone's left haha

    same here.

it's now 30hrs+ since this started happening and i don't think they can/will fix this. i'm guessing it's one of their many ways to try to get rid of some servers to free up bandwidth.

    you guys.. post a traceroute.

i guess it all depends on the route you take to dedibox.. i pinged my server and got this:

    Ping statistics for 88.191.36.177:
    Packets: Sent = 83, Received = 83, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 130ms, Maximum = 325ms, Average = 190ms

    Explanation: https://www.bestofdata.com/12082006-...CIALAN.doc.pdf

    Copied:

    BESTOFDATA LLC – SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
Object: Network issues on DediboxWorld offer.
    1. Explanation:
Monday, 4th – Dedibox fixed a bug on their router that some of our customers reported:
YP.SHOUTCAST.COM was impossible to reach, so you couldn’t get your shoutcast listed on this site. As soon as this bug got fixed, the bandwidth usage increased of almost 80% its basis in a few hours.
Tuesday, 5th – Dedibox told us that they would get it fixed during the day. Then we spread the same word to our customers. But at the end of the day, the problem wasn’t fixed still.
Wednesday, 6th – Dedibox contacted us, and told us that their group owner (Iliad) wouldn’t upgrade the uplinks because there was too much abuse. This was causing major packet loss and lag in some of the DediboxWorld servers. They told us they will find a solution with us to get this problem fixed as soon as possible.
    2. Solution:
Thursday, 7th – Dedibox asked us to decrease our bandwidth usage on some high use servers (totaling 2 Gbps combined).
We decided to do a massive investigation on these servers. We focused on users having more than 25+ Mbps 24/7 of transit bandwidth usage. The primary target was torrent seeders, illegal materials, and shoutcast hosting.
We found some servers running torrents (downloads & uploads). All servers found with illegal materials hosted on it will be canceled by Friday, 8th without ANY refund possibility.
All servers running a shoutcast on port 80 or 8080 will be simply cancelled after 2 warnings. Our biggest problem today is all servers running shoutcast on port 80, and then the whole transit get overloaded and impossible to setup priorities on TCP/IP netflows.
Dedibox requested we do not advertise our offer as “100Mbps Unmetered line” anymore. We’ll from now on advertise it as “100Mbps Port with Best effort on bandwidth”. By Friday, 8th, we will update our Terms of services and website.
During this we have secured international transit of 10 Gbps for peak American hours, you should notice a speed increase taking effect on Friday, 8th 2am GMT+1.

We expect the network to be back to normal by Saturday, December 9th.

BESTOFDATA LLC would like to apologize for the inconveniences.
    Thank you for your comprehension.

If you have any questions, please feel free to open a ticket via your control panel, or send us an email
