    Is there such a thing......

I am looking for some sort of 'control panel' that will let me (on *nix):

    1. Create a user
    2. Give that user a home folder
    3. Assign a quota to that folder
    4. Allow that user some sort of jailed shell that will only allow that user in that one directory

Nothing fancy, nothing with whistles and bells.....I had a look at webmin/usermin but it wasn't the friendliest for me!!

    Is it possible?

    Cheers!

    Could take a look at:

    http://www.ispconfig.org/

Never used it myself, but people seem to give it decent enough regards.

Could also write your own, with a simple PHP and Shell script.

Almost any control panel designed for webhosting does that... Actually, all of them should. Check out some free ones and install one that looks good.

Aye but most of them create directories inside which I dont want, and I dont want it visible from the web so no apache running if you see what I mean.

    So turn off apache

Or in Plesk's case, it create a conf file that get included with apache startup that direct those directories to be visible to the web. If you don't want it, simply move where that file get created and problem solve.
