    Accepting online transactions in Canada

What would be the easiest way to accept visa/mastercard online from Canada, for a small happening for which we would like to take reservation online ?

This would be a temporary shopping cart for a couple of month before the happening.

Google and paypal offers indirect payment so I would have to disacard them!

I just did a check on the 2checkout terms. What is 5.5% of Sale Amount ? Do they really ask for 5.5 % of what you sell ?? This is pure robbery!

Yep, its pretty expensive, however, CCNow, MultiCards, Beanstream are 4.75% to 5% anyways.

Beanstream has a $40 monthly fee, take 4.75% and a 70c transaction cost.

For us Canucks you also have Internetsecure, optimalpayments and moneris but I don't have pricing info from them yet (you have to contact them) ... and I wouldn't be surprised if they have monthly fees as well.

The low cost alternatives are: paypal at 2.9% and $.30 OR
perhaps Nova/Costco at 2% and $.27 (I haven't verified if this is really available in Canada yet)

It would be nice if google checkout or paypal websites pro was available for their indepth but they aren't.

If you have anybody else that us Canucks can use, please tell us.

This isn't all encompassing but it does compare 2co against beanstream on a monthly transaction level basis:
    Code:

Number of Amount per Gross Payment Provider Costs ....
Transactions Transaction Income 2CO BeanStream Paypal

        200 $50 $10,000 $640 $655 $350
        300 $50 $15,000 $960 $963 $525

        200 $20 $4,000 $310 $370 $176
        300 $20 $6,000 $465 $535 $264
        400 $20 $8,000 $620 $700 $352

         50 $100 $5,000 $298 $313 $160

It would appears that breanstream and 2co are both pretty close. I guess you get the benefits of having an integrated website experience with beanstream VS

fast and easy setup with 2co VS

cheap and possible paypal hassles (and probably only in US$)

The best option would be google checkout or paypal pro or costco nova (if available). Good rates and integrated experience.

    My research is still ongoing.

Its always a bit problematic to obtain service for a limited period of time, or one time event. Usually you are signing a multi-year merchant agreement carrying monthly and termination fees. Whatever provider you go with, you'll want to factor that in.

I was curious about the Costco/Nova merchant account for Canadians. There is indeed a sign-up form for Canadians at:
