Whenever I need to recompile Apache, I do it from WHM, Apache Update and I have to remember what to check (from the list) before I start the build. So not only I have to remember what to check, but I always get problems with Zend once the built is complete..
Am i doing this right ? Or is there another simple way to do it ?
I wanted to install the following script today http://choon.net/php-mail-header.php and I followed the steps at the bottom of the page.. When I recompiled I had a lot of problems with many scripts on my sites (that used zend for example..)...
When you have to recompile apache from WHM, just go in Cpanel > Apache Update and there click on Load Previous Config , the first button on the top of the page. This will show you how is apache currently compiled, with what modules, and you will only have to check or uncheck the boxes of the modules you want to add or remove.
About Zend, make sure this is installed on your server, and also that Ioncube is not running, because this two don't get to got one with each other. You can check Ioncube in Cpanel > Tweak Settings > Under Software table see "Loader to use for internal cPanel PHP" and check there "none" . This of course if you don't need ioncube.
also that Ioncube is not running, because this two don't get to got one with each other.
Not strictly true. It's certainly best to disable anything that you don't need on the basis that less is more, so if you don't need to run ionCube encoded files then disable the Loader, and if you don't need to run Zend encoded files then disable Zend Optimiser. But after making sure that you have the latest versons of the components for maximum feature support, both run fine together if you need to use both.
