24 port Netgear FS524 vs 24 port Cisco 2924 switch

Looking to use either of the above two for a LAN for around 20 people or 40 people if I link the two.

Anyone had any experience with the above switches?

I know the throughput is up to 100mbit on both but for gaming latency will be more important. Has anyone used them for time sensistive applications? If so how do they perform?

I can pick up either of the two for roughly the same price.

    Thanks in advance

I would recommend the 2924 Cisco any day over the Netgear

Personally it will be a waste of money for the cisco.

Pick up a switch that has gig up links and set a cross over on the 2.

On the other gig links put a server (file or game) and it will be fine.

If this is for a LAN gaming type event, then it likely wouldn't matter. Gaming does not take very much bandwidth. The Cisco will probably be a little better latency wise, however the performance difference for this type of application will likely be negligible.

I would simply go for the cheaper one, which will probably be the Netgear.

There wouldn't be any latency difference.
