    eAccelerator Cache - Is this normal?

    I installed eAccelerator on my new box. After I restarted httpd, there are directories from 0~9, a~f in the cache directory immediately. There is no other cache file. It is a new box, no visitor yet. But I accessed some pages by myself and I think there should be some cache files in the cache folder. Is this normal?

    Does PHPinfo say that there are actually files cached? Its should state exactly how much pages are in cache at the moment

    According to phpinfo()
    Version 0.9.5
    Caching Enabled true
    Optimizer Enabled true
    Memory Size 33,554,396 Bytes
    Memory Available 30,288,168 Bytes
    Memory Allocated 3,266,228 Bytes
    Cached Scripts 48
    Removed Scripts 0
    Cached Keys 0
    But I see no files in cache directory. There are only directories 0~9, a~f.

    I also see this on eaccelerator website:
    The shared memory functions, session handler and content cache are disabled by default now. They are only used by a small amount of users and they could allow local users to fill up the memory, if they aren't secured properly.

    http://www.eaccelerator.net/wiki/Release-0.9.5
    Is this the answer? It says content cache are disabled by default. But the "Caching Enabled" is true.

    I'm no expert on eAccelerator..but doesn't it by any chance cache to memory only? Which means you would not find them on disk?

    Yes it is absolutely normal to have all those directories. This is recent change in latest version. Old version use to create all files in one directory. But new version put files in different directory to speed up things.
