    exim failure, weird logs

EXIM panic logs show this after exim repeatedly fails when sending a few thousand mails

2006-11-20 22:37:38 1GmNO6-0000o0-0s Expansion of ${if !eq {$header_From:}{}{$header_sender:$header_From:}fai l} failed while rewriting: syntax error in "if" item - "fail" expected
    2006-11-20 22:38:02 1GmNOT-0000qD-Vl User 0 set for local_delivery transport is on the never_users list

What does that mean and how do I repair this? forced eximup did nothing to correct the issue

The mail logs is not complete, as you can see this is the logs of two separate mails

    Try

    grep 1GmNO6-0000o0-0s /var/log/exim_mainlog
grep 1GmNOT-0000qD-Vl /var/log/exim_mainlog and paste the results here.

"User 0 set for local_delivery transport is on the never_users list" means never_users list contains the root user, open /etc/exim.conf file, search for the term never_users and change "root" user from its value to something else, eg: halt
