    * Windows Swap Partition

    Hello,
    I just created a 1gb fat32 for a swap drive for my windows xp system, when i go to set that partionin in virtual memory settings why I press accept the changes i open the box again and the settings are the same as the old settings for keeping the file on my c: partiotion does anyone know why it wont accept the partition?

    what's the point in creating a seperate partition when it's all on the same physical disk.

    have you restarted the pc?
    <erno> hm. I've lost a machine.. literally _lost_. it responds to ping, it works completely, I just can't figure out where in my apartment it is.

    You need to reboot the machine.

    I am not windows user, but I can see how it would make sense to have swap as separate partition so it can "contain" drive fragmentation. Ideally you would have different file system type too that is more suitable for swapping and does not have overhead related to file / folder hierarchy and acl.
