I help run an online radio station. At the moment we are currently using shoutcast streaming server, but are paying for this from a provider.
Being that Shoutcast uses port numbers, listeners usually sitting behind a corporate firewall is usually unable to listen to the stream. For this reason I'm looking more for Media Server provider, because listeners can tune in behind a coprorate firewall with that.
At the moment we pay US$ 53 for 100 slots @ 32 Kbps for 24/7 Unlimited Bandwith and we consume about 200 GBs per month. This is quite good.
I've found another provider that offers 100 slots @ 192 Kbps (yes I typed 192 Kbps) for 24/7 unmetered for a better price. This is all also good, but I'm looking for a Media Server host that can offer me a nice package 100 slots @ 128 Kbps for 24/7
Well I would suggest you contact your host and see if they can provide you shoutcast on port : 80, by which your listeners won't need to put in port numbers it will automatically go to http://0.0.0.0 or http://radio.domain.com.
