Which forum is best?
Which forum is best? Would appreciita it if you could let me know your opinions on these forum scripts.
1. vbulletin
2. phpbb2
3. yabbse
4. invisionboard
all use php and mysql. just wanna know which is more stable, faster, and reliable.
Im aware that vb is the only one that costs but that is of no concern.
Thanks for your opinions! Please feel free to suggest any other forum scripts as well.

I will offer a few comments based on what I have seen my customers running as well as my experience with phpbb2 and vb.
VB:
TONS OF OPTIONS! You can configure, modify, customize this thing to do almost anything but make you coffee. Good server resource usage. Initial template is unattractive. Seems stable.
phpBB2:
Less options but seems adequate. I am concerned about resource usage. Comparatively, I have a customer running both boards. phpBB2 SEEMS to use more resources. I like the initial template. Seems stable.*AlphaOmegaHosting.Com* - Hosting since 1998

phpbb 2.x hands down
Not only is it free, but the support you get from their community and the mods available further strengthen this awesome piece of software!Last edited by jdatwood; 06-23-2002 at 05:15 PM.

If you have the money, vbulletin is a great, feature rich forum. phpbb2 is a fantastic alternative though, and it's free!
