i really need a dedicated server
under 120$ a month because this vps is horrible............
we need something thats p4 or better, 512 mb ram at minimum, 1gb isnt really needed, and something that is capable of uploading at over 2mbits and with 500gb of bandwith
please im diso this..
What issues are you having with your current VPS?
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE latency issues, im running a diablo ii server with 90-110 people on usually and its just horrible, for me, for everyonne it can jump from 40ms to 2000ms easily, even at 3 am ;/
Ever tried resolving the problems with the company?
its not all the time its usually during day time and sometimes at night, but i know its because its a vps :/
Which location are you looking to get this server in?
Just do a search on the forum, you will find a lot of companies offering servers for that price.
in us, either in atl, nyc, los angelas or w/e its called lol or chicago.
Try fdcservers, they are Chicago based.
Based on what you've listed, it shouldn't be hard finding something that will suit you at all.
Try the "offers" forum here for Dedicated servers.
LayeredTech in Texas. For what you want, Chicago will probably come out a bit too expensive.
www.steadfast.net in chicago will do the trick for you.
well thanks for all the replies guys, i bought a server but it was linux and i dont have time to learn how to install anything on it, so if anyone wants to do a take over, i have had it for about 12 hours, i gave 90$ for it and im willing to take 79$ for a taker over if anyone wants to do it, the specs are:
Pentium 4 3.0Ghz w/HTT
80GB SATA II Hard Drive
10MBPS Premium Connection
2 DDoS Protected IP's
with centos or something already installed :|
wow this sorta makes me mad because this company doesnt want to do a refund and i only had it for 12 hours :|
What company is it with? How much is the price monthly? $90?
selectbyte is the company and it is 89.99$ a month i get good upload/download speeds but i just cant do windows :[
paypal and this guy is ignoring me on aim i think , the salesman that sold it to me -.-
why did you order a server with linux if you have no idea how to configure things?
I can see why they don't want to give a refund...they took time setting up the server for you and now 12 hours later you want to cancel only because you don't know what you are doing...sorry for the little bit of harshness here
From what I have seen, most dedicated providers dont offer a money back guarantee or refunds. You might want to check the TOS. Why would you buy a server with linux if you dont know how to run it?
i pictured linux as unbunto or any other distribution , a pretty desktop or somethnig i didnt picture it to being like DoS
That is linux installed with a desktop (X) and you cannot remote into a desktop as you can with windows. When you SSH into linux, you have to run all command to "up keep" the server.
this guy on aim from selectbyte is ignoring me on aim or something, and when they called me they are trying to say I NEVER ordered from me, and it would be impossible to give me a refund...
they said the money was took out of my paypal account was put on hold till the server was verified, but they never received the money when im looking at paypal log and it said it was sent instantly
basically, horrible support
update: paypal told me there isnt a hold on anything, so someone is lying ^^...
Transfer the server to someone else and get a Windows server. Take it as a loss - you shouldn't have ordered it if you didn't know what it was.
This isn't the company's fault.

ATL - www.Gnax.net [or another based out of their DC]
Yeah, if you needed a windows server, why go out and buy a Linux one? This isn't the company's fault. Maybe you could ask to get windows 2003 installed?
Why don't you ask to format the box and pay extra for windows server 2003?
Why did you order it if you couldn't use it?

I am not sure but isnt running Diablo II Server illegal dont you need permission from blizzard? Plus if you can find linux standalone server for same you can run Diablo II Linux server.
Most dedicated server companies won't allow refunds if you just changed your mind. Instead of a dedicated server why not try shared hosting with a good provider like Hostgator.
or, go for a managed vps, or get a cpanel linux server with full management, you wouldn't need to have any good skills, and you could learn while you earn.
