Outage - November 18th
Greetings,
I want to just make a quick post and let everyone know why WebHostingTalk has been down for the past couple of hours. At 7am EST I started getting alerts that we were being attacked with a denial of service attack.
I have been working closely with RackSpace and the attacking ISPs to resolve the situation. At this time we are filtering the attack but there is some residual congestion on the web servers.
Thank you for your patience!

I've noticed that quite a few sites seem to be down/slow this morning. I wonder if it's an attack on a certain providers network?

Thanks for the heads up. That would explain nicely why I could not see WHT earlier.
Keep up the good work !!__--- Nils Valentin ---

Hi!
Even odder...
I noticed a major increase this morning of nasties deflected by the firewall..I've never seen this much so fast. This is just by home dialup connection..too..odd.
Port scans..predictable port connection attempts..as I said..odd. ????

These things we do not provide/offer : Unlimited Storage ! Unlimited Bandwidth ! But Why? Cause, we were unable to put such a large number on our pages, it just would not fit.
So check out the numbers that actually fit >> << the page as well as your budget too !

The Prohacker,
Not sure if this is a real problem or just being caused by that ddos you spoke of but I'm intermittently getting a popup asking me if i want to download showthread.php (as though one of the web servers might be having a php handler error/issue). Then again it could just be apache freaking due to that ddos (if that is still occurring presently).

I'm also still seeing a problem, in that sometimes when I try to load a page, it times out. I've never experienced that before, so I know it's not on my end.

We are still under attack and we are working to mitigation the effects. There will be intermittent timeouts because of this. RackSpace has their backbone team on this and they are working with their providers to help eliminate this attack.
