Current deals on SSL certificates?
It is time to renew my SSL certificate, and EV1 wants $49 for their QuickSSL Certificate from GeoTrust. Does anybody know if there are maybe currently better deals from other vendors?

I'd recommend checking out:
www.namecheap.com (fairly obscure location on their stie if I recall correctly: 15 dollar certs?)
www.enom.com -- good stuff.

RapidSSL and QuickSSL are issued from the same root IIRC. The main difference is the RapidSSL has a RapidSSL site seal and QuickSSL has a Geotrust site seal.
It is the QuickSSL Premium that uses a different route and as such is mobile ubiqitous.Andy

The difference between a quickSSL and QuickSSL premium is the seal, even though it's not spelled out below, the truth is it means geotrust has done a couple extra steps during authentication. phone calls, or something else.. Thanks for the clarification on rapidssl. I didn't know that.
QuickSSL Premium comes with all the features and benefits of QuickSSL, but also includes the QuickSSL Premium smart seal with dynamic date/time stamp. The smart seal is dynamically generated by GeoTrust and ensures that the domain has been authenticated by GeoTrust. Visitors to your site will also be able to click on the smart seal to verify that your certificate is still valid with GeoTrust, giving your customers and extra piece of mindShow your reciprocal links on your website. eReferrer

Shoot if you're selling rapidSSL for 13 bucks there's not much reason to go anywhere else. Id buy those all day long.

What i read was from their site.
Another thing I didn't know is that the phones don't recognize them. Why do they use a different list then browsers? I mean 99.9% of browsers recognize them?
By the way, that problem is on cell phones but it doesn't appear on web browsers unless you're using a VERY old IE or Netscape. like 3.xLast edited by fastnoc; 11-19-2006 at 10:13 AM.

Not sure I understadn your question?
Mobile devices use different browsers to desktop operating systems. As a result the QuickSSL certificate does NOT have a root certificate in the mobile devices whereas the QuickSSL Premium certificate does (hence the price difference)Andy

lol that is not the reason for the price difference. That might be what YOU sell the difference as but the reason they charge more is in my post, and taken from their site.
p.s. the QuickSSL Premium carrys a $100,000 warranty and the quickssl does not.
Warranty. QuickSSL Premium certificates are covered by the GeoSure protection plan with up to $100K in protection. Coverage includes loss of use, theft, or corruption.Last edited by fastnoc; 11-19-2006 at 03:28 PM.
