Hey, I remember back when we purchased an 8.4gb to give my family more space (the original was 2gb)!

I could tell you a joke about UDP. But I'm not sure you would get it!

Just as when I purchased a 300gb IDE when most still were on 60,80gb HDs Can't picture how big things will become in the upcoming decades. A friend put in a 8gb HD and care barely fit Windows XP on it

That's insane. I remember buying my first computer, a Tandy 1000 with no hard drive, in the range of $3000.

i remember buying my first pc in 1999. it was ibm aptiva with 64mb ram and 4gb hd. it had a big sticker on it saying 4 billion bytes. had it until 2004 until the hd blow up. when i deleted a file that was 20mb the computer got faster.

Guess that was for a TRASH-80? That and the Apple II were the computers I first used in my middle school comp-sci class. (1984)

My first two computers - C64 and C-Amiga didn't have HD's at all. My first HD was a 440 MB on my P1-60Mhz.

    Thanks for the retro moment.

Any hard drive for $2500 is completely absurd, but one that's 1/40th the capacity of a CD is just hilarious

My first real PC was a DX2-66 with 4MB RAM and a 540MB Hard Drive, 8 months later I upgraded it to a Cyrix PR166 with 32MB and a 4GB Drive (Fastest CPU you could buy at the time).

my first pc was at work - in 1987 I got the fastest one in the whole company. an IBM ps2 with a 286 cpu and dual 40 meg drives. I cant remember how much ram - but probnably on the order of 16mb.

it was smoking and yes everyone said - you will never use all that space - I mean come on we have 100 mb of main dasd on our water cooled mainframe that takes up half the room. if we can keep all our stuff on that you will never use that for personal. dasd is disk for all you young ones out there. yes - I will have to admit I worked in an IBM 3081J shop for my first job. it was a huge system with hardly any power.....lol
