How many webhosts are there?
I'm trying to find out a rough estimate of how many webhosts there are on the Internet?
If you could please point toa 3rd party source that would be great b/c I need to reference it.

I think netcraft.com attempts to provide rough estimates. and I think http://www.webhosting.info/webhosts/globalstats/ is the other one.

There are way to many 'kiddies' out there pretending to be a webhost, so its impossible to be able to try and attempt to work out how many there are...

Yes agree 100% about there being too many bogus webhosts for any number to be accurate. Just needed some raw estimates to work from though.

Yes there are alot of web hosting providers out there. Yes, there are alot of providers that are not run the correct way, which makes this whole industry look bad. I don't think you will ever overcome the "kiddie" web hosting providers, however they will die out one by one soon enough.

That still works out to like 8000 customers per webhost if they are playing their cards right. 1000 clients at 5 bucks a month is enough to earn a decent living after costs.

I think this is how many webhosts there are
27,158.5
For real, It is hard to say, as there are many resellers, would you count these as webhost, there are resellers from resellers.....
