1planhost & Webhostplus - Stay Away!

1planhost, prior to the spring of 2006, was an excellent host. Then they sold out, literally, to WebHostPlus. The transition period was extremely bad for most people, e.g. sites didn't display.

My wife and I had two domains with them, mine was with another registrant and my wife's with 1planhost (bad idea).

Then in August I paid them for another year for both our sites (renewal date approximately September 12).

I then discovered that I could not use my FTP. Numerous Help Tickets failed to solve the problem.

I was finally able to contact a billing person, Veronica Catano, mid-September, and requested a full refund per they 45 day cancellation policy. After sending her our address, which was on our accounts, she indicated a full refund would be sent.

Never happened! After 3 weeks I emailed her asking what the problem was. She replied she "... never received our address...". So, sent her our address again along with a copy of my previous email with address.

Now it is Novermber 13th (unlucky day for me) and still no refund. They have kept my money (no small sum) and their service was extremely bad.

I have sinced moved by site to another host which is no small matter as I have thousands of pages and graphics.

DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH EITHER OF THESE INTERNET COMPANIES!

Sorry to hear about all your troubles, maybe you can try a charge-back if you used a credit card?

Do a search for Webhostplus: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/search.php

What you'll see might bring you a certain type of comfort.

Looks like they must update their moneyback guarantee page to reflect the increase to 45 days.

I agree with MrRadic, if indeed they do not give you a refund according to their money back policy, chargeback! Seriously, they leave you with no other option at this point IMHO.

Unfortunately, when "re-up time" came 1planhost's (now under the control of WebHostPlus) sign up page would not display. Therefore, being a normal trusting person I sent them a check.

That's the last I will see of my money ... I know now that I have a 0.001% chance of getting it back. What a SCAM they have going. I would think that the State of NJ would shut them down.

Bad News (

WebHost Plus's telephone number, 201-520-1800 has been disconnected! It seems myself and many others have been scammed ... really scammed ... I feel sorry for the original owners of 1planhost.com and their were excellent in the serivce and customer relations. I guess they got scammed too.

I presume you already contacted your bank and your bank isn't willing to put a stop payment on the check?

I'm so sorry to hear about the problems you encountered and the loss of money.

I do hope your bank can somehow stop the payment of this cheque if it hasn't bene taken from your account already. Especially because you did not receive the service you paid for or which you were promised.

I also hope you will find a better and more responsible host soon, good luck!

An excellent idea, however, by the time I realized what was going on 1planhost (WebHostPlus) had already cashed my check. I believe it only takes a few days for a check to be honored by your bank which is far to little time if you have trouble with a company. That is exactly why I use a credit card to buy and pay for things. My credit card company is very good about "charge-backs" if I send them the details for my request.

Yep, I have run very fast to another host. It is amazing how easy it is for a "host" to rip people off. But that can happen when one company takes over another and there is nothing the "taken over" customers can do about it except leave when then can.
