N00b's questions : How do i view the content?

    Hi,
I have VPS which I use for streaming and stuff.
Yesterday I uploaded a file, it was an imgae file called file.jpg . I uploaded the file in the /root directory. How do I go about viewing that in a IE?
Do I need to upload it in some other directory? /home?
    Thanks

    Hi!
    I think I can help.

First..you need to see if a webserver is installed and running.

    Type:

    ps ax

If a webserver is running...you should see "httpd" daemons running in that list..or whatever webserver is installed. There should be several lines..it should be easy to spot.

You also can fire up IE and type:

    http://0.0.0.0/
    -------^^^^^replace with your ip #

and (normally) a default page will show up. Now..normally...most default locations for root's pages (not user pages) is:

    /var/www/html/

If Cpanel is on the vps..it gets a bit confusing. Default pages are:

    /usr/local/apache/htdocs

(if memory serves..I don't have cpanel anywhere right now..trying to quit!)

    Hi!
Ok..no problem. What is your OS? Once I know that..we can go from there.

You really should hire somebody to manage the VPS for you if you don't have any idea of managing a server / vps. :-)
