Run a command in less cpu

    Hi,

I'd like to do a gzip of some logs and It look like it take too much CPU.

running it with nice -n19 still doesn't do any difference..

    What am I wrong?

Compress the files with the command tar -czvf archive.tgz files and decompress it with tar -xzvf archive.tgz . Kindly paste the logs if you face any problem..

if you renice it +19, then it'll use whats free that other processes dont need..

if another process then needs cpu, it'll take it in priority over the gzip

okay so that means will take what is available.. in my case 85%
That means rest of the processes should work normally.
