i went to impek.tv over a year ago and they was amazing, provided what i want etc i currently have 3 servers with them at 100mps each = 300mps.
but over the past 3 or 4 weeks there network has gone extremely down hill. my streams just buffer etc they say its due to network problems on the route from me to the datacenter. but this cant go on no more!
anyone know any good streaming sites or most pref a dedicated server company that offer FULL 100mps Dedicated ports for a good price?
Perhaps stating your budget would help people steer you in the right direction. Your stats on the left there say you're in Berkshire, so, I'd suggest something in London if your link to the DC itself is suspect. There are several DCs in the area with low cost bandwidth on-net, if that's the price point you're after.
LOL -- and now they are having ongoing 'network troubles' Low cost providers can not sell bandwidth for less then they purchase it. At the low end 100 mbps costs $1,000+ (Cogent, etc)
So if you want a full 300 mbps -- true full ports -- increase your budget.
Also, why are you going with three servers for only 500 concurrent users? You can easily do that with one server on a gigE port.
i have been there 13 months not with any probs, but now they are getting router time outs, although they are improving, today all seems smooth they say they have installed new routers so we will see.
i have 3 servers because 1 server crashes due to authentication scripts no server can handle it it eats cpu and ram
Many small outfits purchase a commit above thier needs, they tend to sell thier un-used bandwidth at or below cost just to pay bills, they then tend to add more clients without purchasing more bandwidth to start making a profit, these outfits usually don't start with a good business plan or enough backing.
I don't assume this is what is going on at your current provider, but this is a normal thing that we've noticed year after year, your symptoms reminds me of such scenario.
How many GB do you push each month? 100Mbps unmetered is definately hard to pull off at 500 euros but you can get 100Mbps burstable with a finite amount of bandwidth for that easily. Would 2000GB on 100Mbps be sufficient?
Go get yourself 10 bestofdata servers each of them is guaranteed 20 mbps so theres 200 mbps for you for 450 euros. And you get 20,000 Mhz of CPU power with 10 GB of RAM in that cluster.
That's bad advice. The one user that got the infamous "notice" was doing just that. BoD accommodated his requirements by working out another deal at their expense, and then made provisions in the ToS for new customers to prevent that situation from coming up again. Their ToS specifically mentions you must contact them before ordering if you will be streaming content.
