We are doing some major migration, and while we are taking all the right precautions, the only thing that truly challenges us, is the actual migration of the database. Would love to hear some suggestions from people on how to migrate sites with Mysql site on Cpanel, without bothering the client and hopfully it being seameless
You are stating in your first post "the only thing that truly challenges us, is the actual migration of the database" and then say in the second post "the programming still points to the database on the old ip".
This has NOTHING to do with the DB but with the webapplication you are using. I do assume the IP is set f.e. in a php configuration file ?
You can use a command like "fgrep" to search in files for the IP and replace it afterwards. There are probably only a few locations which you need to replace, but keep in mind that you might want to adjust your settings in Firewalls, IDS systems etc. as well.
