    Strange DNS issue

Hello, this is a strange issue. I've never seen this before so I'm not sure where to go.

marctronixx.com is a customer of mine. He's hosted his site with me for over 3 years.

Today his domain stopped working so he contacted me. I did some looking and there is a missing record somewhere.

If you look at a whois lookup it will show ns141.e-places.net as authoritative.

But if you go to dnsstuff and try to show an a-record, it fails with this response:

Searching for marctronixx.com A record at K.GTLD-SERVERS.NET. Reports no A records (NXDOMAIN). 8ms. (This is a root server)

    http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/dnstim...ixx.com&type=A

if you do an nslookup on ns141.e-places.net it responds correctly with the correct IP.

The domain has not expired, and i'm lost on what to look at.

that domain points to a 192.x class a.

    any ideas?

Registrar status for marctronixx.com is showing as "clientHold" and "Updated Date" is 3-nov-2006 . Seems like this issue needs to be dealt with by the registrar.

    clientHold
An object on clientHold is not published in the DNS zone file. If it is a domain, it will not resolve until the clientHold status is removed. This status may be added to an object by either the registrar who sponsors the object or the registry administrator.

Wow strange. Whois shows it expires in 2007 but it actually expired 4 days ago.

That is strange to see an incorrect date in whois.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Most registrars prolong expired domains for a year, but if you don't want to renew the domain's status will be cahnged to "REDEMPTIONPERIOD":
