Ok, easy enough. Use the perfomance Monitor in windows, you can do alot of custom stuff there, and set filters for base and max settings, and have it e-mail you when one of your filters are reached.

crshman is right. Take a very hard look at Nagios.

Nagios can be used to monitor Windows boxen as well. If you have a small Linux machine somewhere (it wouldn't take much). You'd need Apache, gdlib and gdlib-devel. Easy peasy.

You can track everything from pings to mail queues to service status to spamcop blocks.
Did I mention that it's free of cost to install and use~?

PortSensor is very good for local monitoring from your own PC. We use this in combination in Zabbix for monitoring our servers. Zabbix has a Windows client that be installed to report to the monitoring server.

But Naigos can be a bitch to configure. We're using Zabbix. It's much more friendly. Maybe not the most friendly, but a heck of a lot better than Naigos.

bitch ain't the word. however, once you do master it, you will be glad you did.....for what ever sadistic reason.... Zabbix is interesting. Thanks for mentioning it.

I agree with PSFServers, Naigos is well worth the time and afford learning.

    Hiyas,

I have used status2k which has been a fantastic program and only about $20 to get a license for it.

Provides usefull info and a live process/disk watching queue

    Hope that helps

Nagios is meanwhile already backed up by some books. If you are serious about monitoring, then that should basically be the way to go. Especially if you later want to extend it with your own plugins.

I have a problem with nagios, it is a fantastic product but it does not have the option to export the views to a html page or a php page that can be slipstreamed into a website. I think it lacks like that.

I know i can call up the cgi but it has all the extra stuff around it. It would be nice if i could use variables to pull the info from nagios to place on my website and use that to monitor servers.

Anyone have any ideas on nagios doing this in the future?

"MailShield" even if what you say is true, than Nagios is your best chance that it does get implemented in a future version which such a wide audience.

But to be honest Exporting data is nothing new, so I guess they either are already working on it or you probably just need to mention it once more for the developers to pick it up again.

Did you contact the nagios developers f.e. by mailing list to make sure the feature is not implemented or being worked on ?

    Best regards
