Does anyone else living in the Region 2 area feel a bit cheated at times? Take Prison Break for example, released as a complete boxset in Region 1 a good while before "part one" came out on Region 2. Obviously as they're released before, US DVD's are usually cheaper to buy by the time R2 versions are released. Also, content. The amount of times I've compared R2 to R1 and realised I've missed out on a bundle of extras, and paid more for the priviledge . Even little things like flashy packaging etc. just doesn't seem to make it onto R2. I might just stick to Region 1 from now on, it seems better in the long run? I know it's not the end of the world, but I like the additional material on films I really like, especially the audio commentary.
I always just wait for DVDs to come down into the 3 for £15 (and similar) offers now. I'm not going to buy any more standard DVDs for now I think as I've spent thousands on an HDTV and surround sound system I might as well get some HD content to watch on it all. I've got an HD-DVD player on order and when I'm in the USA for Christmas I'm gonna buy a good collection to get me going. The best thing is there is currently no region coding on either the players or disk for HD-DVD so I can just go online and find the best prices in the future.
