    Question Cpanel Email

    Hi guys,

    I'm too stupid to figure this one out on myself, so I'll ask you. Are there any free email programs that allow me to reply without having to go through the Cpanel email system (ie Horde or Squirrel Mail). I currently have PopTray which tells me when I have email, but won't let me respond. Outlook Express doesn't seem to like any Pop based email through Cpanel either...

    Outlook Express - or any POP3/IMAP client should work fine with Exim.

    Are you getting a specific error message, login / password failure... unable to connect?

    Every time I've seen this its because the end-user (ie you) has misconfigured something

    Common mistakes/problems:
    * not setting the username to the *full* details of the mailbox as shown in the control panel i.e. {mailboxname}@{domain}
    * not ticking the "my outbound server requires authentication, use same as incoming" option
    * turning on MS-SPA methods
    * runing behind some manky "personal security" software like Norton IS
    * dodgy software firewall settings

    Can you telnet to the pop port and verify the login details ?
    telnet {domain} 110
    USER {full email address}
    PASS {mailbox password}
    LIST
    - should show you a list of the emails

    Wow, I know what the problem is. The username in Outlook Express should have been support@shotthebreeze.com instead of just sales, which was set as the default.
