I want to put a simple welcome screen at domain.com that asks the user to enter a nickname / real name before being allowed to enter into my blog. This is to know who's visiting.
I don't want people to go directly to domain.com/blog (via bookmark) and bypass my layer of protection! Everytime they visit, they'll have to enter a name. I would like a box with comments BELOW THIS FORM so that I get frequent feedback (although this is optional).
I don't need authentication with password, but as long as 5 or more characters are entered into this splash page login screen, then its good enough to proceed to my blog.
After that, on my right-sidebar of the WP blog, I want to display the last 10 users and possibly advanced statistical information would be a plus.
Is there a freeware php script out there that does what I want?
1. On initial landing page, its just a normal HTML file with a text box inputting your name. (Min 5 characters required, max 15)
2. When clicking "OK", my normal wordpress blog displays. ON the sidebar, a little window shows the last 20 "users". No password auth necessary, just to know who visited - even if its dumb nicknames, I don't mind.
