Help! I am about to sign up with 1and1 - is this OK?!

My domain is www.christianhelpforums.com/forums, which i run with dot5. I have decided to ditch dot5 as they are useless - I have had downtimes of 24 hours plus for weeks.

I have read bad things about 1and 1 but like the look of the package because:

I can host both my domains on their one account (I assume they will allow my name servers to point to them)
    it's cheap
and i only have low volume users on the forum website and other site.
they allow payment every month so I don't have to pay up front?
    they allow pament by paypal

Is there anyone better for about the same price, or a bit more?

    thanks in advance
    I am learning, fairly fast!

If you look a few threads below yours you will see this:

Remember, with hosting you get what you pay for -- didn't you learn this with Dot5 already?

    hi,

yes thank you i did see this but this is one perosn's experience, and if i pay by paypal, and not in advance, this will help.

do you have any reasonably priced alternatives?

    thanks.

I think this really depends on your budget, as well as how much disk and bandwidth you use. My personal experience is to stay away from larger hosts that offer hundreds of gigs of bandwidth and disk for pennies. Cartika is a great host with knowledgable support, but might be out of your price range if you're looking for "cheap".

I'm actually using hostforweb.com and have had REALLY good luck with them. They answer tech support questions very quickly and have limited downtime.

I sudjest gioing for Dedi with 1&1 - They are very fast and very reliable but sometimes they get a billing eorror and take it down!

1&1 is ok while you are hosting.
When it comes time to cancel, you will be told that the account is cancelled, then billed months later.

Your credit will be ruined because they say you owe them months of hosting.

    Bottom Line: STAY AWAY

    Quoted from 1and1.com:

    # Beginner and Home packages have a six-month billing cycle.
    # Business and Developer packages have a three-month billing cycle.

I'm going to ask you a question.
How much does it worth your peace of mind?

Stay away from 1and1.com, they hit me up with hidden charges like crazy and don't really care about any customers, their all about quantity not quality.

You may want to try www.jewlzk.com for a dedicated server. They are very good, as i havent had any major issues.

well seeing they don't give very good technical support and don't care about customers I don't see any good service there.
