    Problems with ProFTd (Suse10.0)

    Hi All,

I can't login to my server by using an FTP-script (e.g. Joomla
Safe-Mode-Patch). I do get a message of having logged in, however after that
    the script has a "hangup".

I copied a part from my logfile here:

    Oct 2 09:50:42 h1040907 proftpd[25518]: server.xxx.com
    (xx.xx.xxx[xx.xx.xxx]) - FTP session opened.
    Oct 2 09:50:42 h1040907 proftpd[25518]: server.xxx.com
    (xx.xx.xxx[xx.xx.xxx]) - mod_delay/0.5: delaying for 60 usecs
    Oct 2 09:50:42 h1040907 proftpd[25518]: server.xxx-dns.com
(xx.xx.xxx[xx.xx.xxx]) - USER partyraum: Login successful.
    Oct 2 09:50:42 h1040907 proftpd[25518]: server.xxx.com
(xx.xx.xxx[xx.xx.xxx]) - Preparing to chroot to directory
    '/srv/www/vhosts/partyraum.de'
    Oct 2 09:50:42 h1040907 proftpd[25518]: server.xxx.com
    (xx.xx.xxx[xx.xx.xxx]) - mod_delay/0.5: delaying for 1664 usecs
    Oct 2 09:50:42 h1040907 proftpd[25518]: server.xxx.com
    (xx.xx.xxx[xx.xx.xxx]) - PAM(setcred): Memory buffer error
    Oct 2 09:50:42 h1040907 proftpd[25518]: server.xxx.com
    (xx.xx.xxx[xx.xx.xxx]) - PAM(close_session): Memory buffer error
    Oct 2 09:50:42 h1040907 proftpd[25518]: server.xxx.com
    (xx.xx.xxx[xx.xx.xxx]) - FTP session closed.

With Google I discovered this problem has to do with ProFTPD in combination
with Suse. To my despite I haven't been able to find a solution yet..

Does anyone of you have an idea?
    My OS is Suse v.10.0

Thanks in advance for any usefull replies.

    Kind regards,
    Marco.

I think the problem lies in the PAM authentication module. Not neccessarily in ProFTPD itself. You're using PAM. Did you try ProFTPD with a different authentication method?

No I think not. Since Plesk works with PAM and I am not able to change this way of connecting. Thusfar I have found with Google that it has to do with the combination of Suse v.10 and ProFTP/Plesk.

I think plesk will show incompatibilities with other FTP softwares.
