    Hosting Market Stats

I'm trying to figure out how big the hosting market is, such as shared, dedicated, linux, windows, etc. Is there any reliable data about this out there? I've searched google and found nothing really up-to-date.

    Can someone help?

If you go to www.thewhir.com, you can read "past issues" of the whir magazine in PDF format. Every issue has a "stats" section near the back. THese stats come from reputable sources. Each issue seems to have a different theme for the type of stats. For example, this issue, they are showing a stat "RESELLERS BY VOLUME"

    30% of resellers are bringing in $1000 - $499,000 sales/year
    26% = $500,000 - $999,000 Sales/year
    31% = $1M - $2.5M sales/year
    7% = $2.5M - $5M sales/year
    3% = $5M - $10M sales/year
    2% = $10M - $25M sales/year
    1% = $25M+ sales/year
This stat was taken from a sample of 20,000 hosting resellers.

Have a look at the past magazine issues. They have some great info!

    Hello,

Big, welll it's an occean and if you take a dip you will be dipped .

Its a huge racket since there are many hosting companies who are doing good. You need to study the market well before getting into this business.

    Thank you.

    Regards,
