    Intel VS. AMD

Dual Core AMD OpteronTM 8200 series processors at up to 2.8GHz

    Dual-Core Intel® Xeon 7140M Processor

    Hello All,

I wanted to know if anyone has any opinions on the above processors, the only reviews i have been able to find were on Intels website so I am somewhat skeptical in believing them seeing that I wouldnt think they would rate a competitors product above theirs. Any and all opinions are appreciated.

    Thank You

I just so happened to catch this review on tom's hardware:

    http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/10/..._head_to_head/

I haven't read this yet, but also reviews my fav server vendor, supermicro.

From previous tests the Intel's woodcrest is the processor to beat!

thanks, none of those are the same processors as i am seeking information on though. So far i have come to find only a quote form dell:

"Back in August of this summer. Dell & Intel introduced the Xeon 7000 series based on Intel's Xeon code named: Tulsa. Ironically, Dell states that the new PowerEdge 6950 outperforms and consumes up to 20% less power than the PowerEdge 6850 server. (The 6850 was only launched in August of this year)"
