Take a look at this colo pricing!

I always thought Internap and Inflow had the highest 'list' price for new customers when they quoted $600/mbps, but this takes the cake.

Had a new client switch to our service today, I took a look at their previous vendor's web site and found the following price schedule. Can you believe this? This 'host' is apparently nothing more than a 2-man show, but the prices shown are for colo in an Atlanta facility.

Setup/Installation Fee is $500 per server.

    Bandwidth Rates:
    64k / $300
    128k / $350
    256k / $450
    384k / $550
    512k / $850
    768k / $1200
    1536k / $1700

These rates are for Epoch/Netifice/Megapath bandwidth.

Port charge of $110 per port per month applies if you want to aggregate multiple machines under one commit. The best part is their site specifies no bursting is allowed at these prices, but bursting 'up to double' your commit is available at additional cost.

I shouldn't be so hard on these guys, you do get to choose between a 10mbps port or a 100mbps port, and if you sign a 24 month contract they'll give you a 10% discount.

    Good stuff!

    (sheesh!!)

PS - This company is pretty easy to find with the info provided, but I've deliberately not named them here and would appreciate it if you didn't either.

If they can get the money, fair play to them.

Maybe the service they offer justifies the price, perhaps?

Good luck to them... Those prices arent even as high as it would be if you were hosting machines in Japan.

Well, it doesn't look like this is their main line of business, so maybe its safe to assume their colo "infrastructure" is limited.

I said that based off what quotes I saw about a year ago, the pricing was pretty out there.

Although true, those prices are even way beyond those of Sungard, etc which are some of the most costly players in the industry.
