Route mail to two distinct mail servers

    Hi,

Is it possible to setup MX so all incoming mail gets routet into two distinct mail servers? How will it work if I setup two distinct MX records with the same priority?

    Hope someone can help ...

Yes, you can create for instance two MX 10 and make them direct to different servers, but, considered that the servers must be in contact with each other in order to make the service work

Do you want the same message to go to 2 locations, or are you just looking to load balance a pair of mail servers?

afaik the protocol wont deliver to 2 mailservers at the same time - if you set 2 mx records to have the same weighting it'll probably roundrobin (thats dns' usual behaviour). afaik if you want mail to go to 2 hosts, you'll have to forward it yourself...

    willing to be wrong though!

Some mailing software allow you to relay the incoming messages to another server after inital processing. You could do this replicate to replicate the 2 desitnation servers.
