Clarify Asia, because I can assure you that almost anywhere a westerner may go in Asia will be subject to inflated prices. Sure, you will find some objects such as food cheaper; but most items are not as discounted in the larger malls as you may imagine.

Most products from China tend to be cheap and also tend to break after their warranty term (usually six months). Products made in Malaysia or Singapore like DVD players or recorders are really expensive in Australia whereas they're cheaper in the country that it's manifactured, I believe.

I think guitars are more expensive in US/EU than in Asia, especially Asian brands like ESP, Ibanez, etc...

Things like DVD's and software are more expensive in the U.S.A. because there is actual enforcement of copyrights. Shopping malls full of stores selling Windows XP Pro and MS Office 2003 for 5 Malaysian ringgit would not escape the software corporations' notice here.
Things like cameras, electronics, and non-counterfeit watches did not seem to be a very big bargain in Asia compared to the U.S.A. That's because the stuff is made in Asia, and the big-box stores are pretty efficient at importing and distributing it here.

He probably means anywhere else OTHER than USA/Canada, although he didn't say that.
Vodaphone in Spain is wayy cheaper that the US.
But then, we don't have Vodaphone here.

Well the question was expensive here cheap in Asia, I was not comparing US to Canada. The US and Canada price wise are on par for most everything and as you pointed out some things in Canada are more expensive.
And I did say most anywhere in the world, on another note Verizon is very expensive in the US, so you'd be blown away by the prices of TMobile, or MetroPCS.

This is weird but
Cheaper in:
Asia: basic cleaning utensils (sponges, mops)
USA: supermarket groceries, overall on average (there are no costcos or trader joes in Asia). but not counting markets (which in Asia can go really cheap)
