    Receiving email via sendmail

I am using for the first time a FreeBSD box with no control panel, just to get to the core of things.
Anyway of all things I've had to encounter, I've never really configured or even touched any sendmail config files.

    So the problem is this:
I can send email to any remote mailbox with mutt, but if I send an email from say my gmail mail account to the account on my box, then I get a mail daemon error from google.

I can however send from my local to my gmail account, but not vice versa.

I realize this is probably incredibly stupid, but I have no idea where to start.
If anyone can tell me how to configure my box to receive email, that'd be nice.

Take a look at the following URL:

QMail is an excellent SMTP daemon and the website provides very detailed instructions on setting it up.
