## Buying a list of customers

Some one has a list of customers and makes \$900 a month with his web hosting accounts. How much would you buy it?

\$900 net after expenses? or \$900 Gross?

The rule of thumb I seen most often seems to be around 10x - 12x the Monthly Profit.. But it varies on how oversold the plans are and If there are a lot of annual accounts, and their renewal date is more than 4-5 months away that number could go down.

Then it would depend on what your expenses are.. If your paying \$1500 a month, and getting \$900 gross, then you would be hard pressed to find anyone who would buy it unless there was another compelling reason.

depends on
* how much is profit
* how many clients
* what payment methods the clients use
* exactly what you sold the clients
* if its just the clientbase sold or the "brand", website, domains, software

Is there a mathematic rule to calculate the price of a list of customers?

Yes, the value of a list of customers is "X"
Where X is defined as: 1*(whatever someone will pay)
IME X is always < (what seller wants)

"list of customers" is too vague a description, to even come close to having a meaningful value it would have to be expanded to...
"list of customers, who pay X, at Y frequency, by Z method for P plans. Utilisation U of the server(s) which cost S and are at L, also included are A B C D and E, as well as F G H and I" etc.

## list of clients

Absolutely, you need a lot more info on this one. If you intend to move the clients the most critical things you need to know is how long the clients have been with the company, do they pay reguarly, size of plans and how much they pay for it.
